Educational Choice

It's ironic that in an attempt to frame their support for school vouchers, "educational choice" is often a term used by conservatives. I am not here to talk about vouchers, but what we at TeachTheFacts.org stand for—we stand for your right, and my right to choose to have our kids properly educated with scientifically-supported facts.

For those who don't like the content of the new MCPS health curriculum, we also support their right to choose alternative curricula for their children.

With the implementation of the new curriculum, parents who want their children to be taught comprehensive sex ed will have that option, and those who prefer abstinence-only sex ed will have that option.

Knowledge is never a bad thing—we at TeachTheFacts.org trust our kids to be able to handle the truth. And we trust parents to make the right choices for their own children.

The opposing group has some interesting links today on your "factual" curriculum. Does it bother you at all that what your advocating relies on out-of-date information?

GE, I'm not going to bother to go point for point, but the stuff you're referring to is what the minority members of the citizen's committee sent to the BOE almost a year ago. Almost all their facts are wrong. Domonstrably wrong, badly wrong. Some of it amounts to lying. I posted something on another site last April that went through it. Won't bother with it now, but ... let's say, to answer your question: No, there's nothing there that bothers us.

Nothing there that bothers you... really? At the risk of repeating myself, the www.mcpscurriculum.com/blog site is really good. Have you checked it out Jim? They go point by point thought the resources and show the problems with them. I noticed you NEVER DEFEND any of those sources. All you do is condemn people. Could it be because those biased sources are INDEFENSIBLE?

How 'bout it?
