A: No.

Why should BOE? No reason at all!

EXRECALL (CRC) sued them and had been planning to sue them since at least January. Plotting that lawsuit, seeking plaintiffs..and then asking BOE to meet with them.

Incredible....

No.

The CRC members who post here claim that they have not had a chance to be heard. They claim that the CAC was unbalanced. I've got the CAC's Annual Report for the 2003-2004 school year, submitted June 2004, here in front of me. On page 9 of this report I see a list of the 27 members. One of the member-seats is held every year by a student. Of the remaining 26 adult members, these 7 members are currently associated with the CRC, or were members representing socially conservative organizations, or represented religious groups currently complaining of being misrepresented:

Ms. Henrietta Brown, Daughters of the American Revolution
Dr. Kimberly Y. Campbell, the Peoples Community Baptist Church
Dr. Michael Caruso, Archdiocese of Washington
Ms. Ethel Jerlean Eader, Parents Against X-rated and R-rated Books
Ms. Jackie Rice, Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX)
Ms. Rosa Urquart, Maryland Coalition Against Pornography
Ms. Michelle Turner, Member-at-large

7 identifiable social conservatives out of a committee of 26 adults. More than 25% of the committee members were personally conservative or represented conservative organizations. There was no lack of representation on the committee. (Also, contrary to the claim of Dr.Ruth Jacobs at last week's BOE Meeting, there was at least one medical doctor serving on the committee.)

I do not know most of the people listed above. I do not know how they voted when the curriculum changes were approved and I do not know if they are currently supporters of the CRC. They were there, though. They attended the meetings and they did the homework and they were part of the process.
Claims by the CRC they they had no chance to be heard are not valid. Their current lawsuit is an attempt to derail what has been an open and inclusive process from the start. It is the nastiest form of "sour grapes" and it is hurting our kids.

I should note that Kimberly Campbell, from the Peoples Community Baptist Church, voted in favor of the revised curriculum and was a very vocal and wise member of the Committee. This does demonstrate, as the revised curriculum states, that not only are there different views on sexual behaviors among different religions, but that there are different views among people of the same religions. Again, I note that that is the ONLY thing the revised curriculum said about religion and sexual activity.

I believe what they objected to was Mr. Fishback's biased running of the CAC.

They listed a lot of things they objected to, and that wasn't it. I recommend you follow the link on our Resources page, on the left, titled "David Fishback responds to PFOX letter."
