The Only Question That Matters: Read It
A guy just pasted a link into a comment, and I think everybody should go read this.
It's a very lucid, readable, informative, and short article called The Only Question That Matters: Do People Choose Their Sexual Orientation?. It's on the web site of the Log Cabin Republicans. The author, it says here, "is a journalist who contributes regularly to The New York Times and has written for The Atlantic and The New Yorker. He is author of two books, 'A Separate Creation: The Search for the Biological Origins of Sexual Orientation' and 'The Emperor of Scent: A Story of Perfume, Obsession, and the Last Mystery of the Senses.'"
Normally I'd cut-n-paste some quotes, but not this time -- go read it, it won't take you ten minutes.
As we have noted, "some people" like to go around chanting, "there's no gay gene." Those people should read this article, too. You know who you are.
Thanks to Bill Ware for the link.

Thanks Jim. The article is well written and the comparison tables are to the point. Glad you liked it.
Burr made his point clearly and concisely. His only error is in even stating that the "ideological Left is so deeply attached to the false Marxist dogma that biology can determine nothing about the character, thinking, and instincts of human beings." There is NO ideological Left today, and I challenge anyone to find more than a handful of survivors who wield any influence whatsoever.
I'm really tired of the false moral equivalence between Right and Left, as if this still were the 30's or the 60's. Even my friend Andrew Sullivan can't get past this nonsense. Who out there is the mirror image of Dobson, Falwell, Benedict, Bowers, Sprigg, Brownback, Coburn, Santorum . . . Dick Durbin? Ted Kennedy? Hillary Clinton? Please!
Well, come on, Dana, it is the Log Cabin Republicans, after all. You don't expect their politics to make any sense. I thought it was one of the clearest discussions of the "gay gene" topic that I've seen.

Actually, those guys (and they are mostly guys) are more like our fathers' Republicans. I suppose they must say something to prove their street cred.
But I don't know that Chandler Burr is one of them.
