Man Arrested for Being Naked in His Own House

Hey, see what you think about this one...
SPRINGFIELD, Va., Oct. 20 (UPI) -- A Virginia man said he is fighting the indecent exposure charge brought against him after he was spotted making coffee naked in his kitchen.

Eric Williamson, 29, of Springfield, said he was home alone Monday when he walked into the kitchen naked to make coffee at about 5:30 a.m., WTTG-TV, Washington, D.C., reported Tuesday.

"Yes, I wasn't wearing any clothes but I was alone, in my own home and just got out of bed. It was dark and I had no idea anyone was outside looking in at me," Williamson said.

Police said an unidentified woman who was walking with a 7-year-old boy spotted Williamson through a window and reported the scene to police. A Fairfax County Police spokesman said Williamson was arrested because investigators believe he wanted to be seen by the public.

However, Williamson, father of a 5-year-old girl, said that was not the case.

"I am a loving dad. Any of my friends and anyone knows that and there is not a chance on this planet I would ever, ever, ever do anything like that to a kid," he said. Man arrested for making coffee naked

This is a ridiculous story. Poor guy. The rest of the article says that he faces up to a year in jail!

I've actually done this before if no one else is home. I don't like curtains and we don't have them but our windows don't go to the floor so it's not really an x-rated event.

Does this guy walk around the house with no clothes on when his kid may wander in the room? If he was standing in the kitchen making coffee, didn't the counter block any view below the waist? How hard did this complaining lady have to look to get a good view?

If the police were really concerned, they should have spoken with him and told him not to do it again or to put curtains up. If he still kept doing it, with no curtains, then perhaps he should have gotten in trouble. But as it is...a year in prison?

Speaking of someone who should be in trouble -- did you hear that Kevin Jennings our Safe School Czar, funded a Harvard exhibit that prominently featured a poster and flyers which read:

"She had the girl
Bent her over a table,
Knickers down and shirt up...
The girl took it well"

If anyone here can defend this, I'd love to hear it because it makes me vomit.

Many years ago a friend of mine was reported for a similar "offense" in her Takoma Park home. She got up at two or three in the morning, turned on a small lamp near her bedroom door so that she could see the stairs, and went down to the kitchen for water. Her next-door neighbor called the police and reported that she was exposing herself.

In her case, the Takoma Park police asked the neighbor why he was looking into her window at that hour, mentioned privacy and manners, and went back to work.

What I question in this story is the police reaction. Why did they not suggest that the homeowner try a bathrobe and tell the woman to stay off of private property and MHOB?

Thanks for clearing that up with the link from the virulently anti-gay group, MassResistance.

After reading their post and following several links, I've learned Kevin Jennings is a former member of ACT-UP and ACT-UP is the group that has the poster with the prose on it. The poster, and many others, are being displayed "at Harvard University's prestigious Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts" to mark ACT-UP's 20 years of AIDS activism.

When was Jennings an ACT-UP member? Per the 2008 video of his partner that MassResistance has posted, Jennings was a member of ACT-UP when they began dating fourteen years ago.

What a nice dose of reality for Anon! Jennings and his partner are a same-sex couple that has been together for 15 years now.

Average number of years first marriages that end in divorce in the US last: eight

It's good to know Kevin, like Dubya, has given up the wild days of his youth and settled down.

Yes, Bea, Mass Resistance acknowledges, in the first paragraph, that Jennings is a former member of theirs. BUT, the Act Up Exhibit is going on NOW through December 2009, and Kevin Jennings HELPED TO FUND IT RIGHT NOW. THIS YEAR.

I went to Harvard's website and pulled out the "Credits" section. I have capitalized Kevin Jennings' name.

Our Safe School Czar. Kevin Jennings. Nice, real nice.

Bea,

Regarding the fact that you feel Jennings was just supporting Harvard, and his money sort of accidentally ended up at the exhibit...it is quite clear that Jennings gave specifically to this event.

If someone does happen to be surprised and upset by the way their money is spent at an event, it is common for the person to express displeasure immediately, and to pull their name from the event -- immediately.

As of now, Kevin Jennings' name is still on the Harvard website. Guess he likes the way his money was spent.

Not sure why you or anyone would defend Jennings on this. Sanctioning an event that proudly displays the depiction of the rape of a little girl by a lesbian is indefensible -- one would think.

Anon, you flaming moron, Jennings has nothing to be ashamed about. ACT-UP formed as a direct response to the ignorant, hateful, and dangerous policies of the Reagan administration, who allowed a major catastrophic epidemic to grow out of control because it mostly only hit queers and niggers.

Gay people needed to establish an identity and they needed to talk about sex right now. You don't lolligag around using medical terminology when all your friends are dying. You don't say, "Remember always to use a condom for anal sex," you say, "don't put any cock in your ass without a rubber." They weren't worried about a bunch of puritans in 2009 clutching their pearls because the language was rough, they needed to communicate right now, to save lives.

It might not be an approach that would work now, but at that time it was just what the world needed, a punch in the face, and this Harvard exhibit recognizes the importance of that response and yes, it is shocking to see the graphical sexuality, but that's what it took, man.

None of them was as sketchy as the Obama crowd. They would have sailed through congressional approval.

"ACT-UP formed as a direct response to the ignorant, hateful, and dangerous policies of the Reagan administration, who allowed a major catastrophic epidemic to grow out of control"

AIDS was introduced and sustained by widespread random promiscuity in the gay bathouses of SF and NY.

It couldn't be contained because the gay community resisted testing because they were afraid of being ostracized.

It's history, pal.

Uh, what does AIDS have to do with raping a little girl?????? Why is that in the exhibit????

Also, Tsunami -- the last I heard, Jennings had written in his book a few years ago that when he was a teacher, a male teenaged student came to him, saying that he had met a guy in a bathroom and was having sex with him. In his book, Jennings said that he told the kid that he hoped he was using a condom. That was the extent of his action (or non action).

When it was talked about nationally, Jennings recently said that he now feels he should have done more at the time.

This is the last I heard of the story, but now you say the whole thing was discredited. How was it discredited? I haven't heard the update.

Also, to anyone -- have you ever read And the Band Played On by Randy Shilts? A gay friend of mine, who died of AIDS years ago, had asked me to read it back in the late 80s, which I did. It talks about the first person in the northern hemisphere to get AIDS. He was referred to as "patient zero" or something. He was a gay Canadian flight attendant and as he got worse and worse and got more sores on his body, he would go into the bathhouses, have sex in the dark, and then turn on the light and announce to the person that he had AIDS.

It's no wonder that the Reagan-era people were worried about the gay population spreading AIDS and focused their efforts on stopping the spread in that population. The sheer number of partners in those bathhouses was cause for concern.

Who knows? If attention had not been brought to this group's risk, perhaps they would have kept dying in large numbers. If I were a gay person, I'd be thankful to the Reagan-era people for caring enough to worry.

Anon, I don't see anything in this exhibit about anybody "raping a little girl." I thought the lines you quoted were about one woman spanking another, which you may find disgusting or whatever but if it's consensual, it's a pretty common bedroom activity -- maybe you and your spouse do a little bit of that, if you don't you ought to try it! I see that the people who created this pdf file make it sound like one of the participants is underage, but it certainly doesn't say that in the text. Lots of us call a young woman a "girl."

It's history, pal.

ROFL What you've presented is spin. Here's are some facts about Ronald Reagan's lack of leadership on HIV/AIDS. He didn't even speak the word until seven years into his presidency, after thousands of Americans had died.

Reagan's AIDS Legacy
Silence equals death

As America remembers the life of Ronald Reagan, it must never forget his shameful abdication of leadership in the fight against AIDS

Ignoring AIDS: The Reagan Years
We take a look at the Reagan administration blatant refusal to deal with the issue of AIDS while thousands of Americans were dying

Angels, Reagan, and AIDS in America
This epic is, among other things, a searing indictment of how the Reagan administration's long silence stoked the plague of AIDS

Reagan's AIDSGATE
Reagan understood that a great deal of his power resided in a broad base of born-again Christian Republican conservatives who embraced a deeply reactionary social agenda of which a virulent, demonizing homophobia was a central tenet...What did this mean in practical terms? Most importantly, AIDS research was chronically under-funded. When doctors at the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health asked for more funding for their work on AIDS, they were routinely denied it. Between June 1981 and May 1982 the CDC spent less than $1 million on AIDS and $9 million on Legionnaire's Disease. At that point more than 1,000 of the 2,000 reported AIDS cases resulted in death; there were fewer than 50 deaths from Legionnaire's Disease.

Reagan rejected vast sums of research for a disease that is 100% preventable.

Reagan sided with his Education Secretary William Bennett and other conservatives who said the Government should not provide sex education information. How do you prevent the spread of disease if you don't educate the population about it?

Reagan-era people were worried about the gay population spreading AIDS and focused their efforts...

What efforts?

"How do you prevent the spread of disease if you don't educate the population about it?"

at the time, this was being discussed ad nauseum in the media, who was giving the public a great education about AIDS prevention without spending a dime of tax money

let's face it, putting some reputable preachers on TV to speak about the Ten Commandments would have saved more lives than any type of condom education

and since that's not a government function, they need to stay out of it

making it safer to frequent bathhouses and dark city parks for random sex would not have been beneficial for society

fear of AIDS cleaned a lot of that activity out of our society and probably saved lives in the long run

if it had kept up, we might have worse diseases going around, hard as that is to believe
